Ruth Bonetti
B.Mus (Qld), M.Mus (Qld), A.R.C.M. (Lond.), A.Mus. A., A.S.M. (NSAA).
Ruth Bonetti is a Music Performance
graduate of the University of Queensland. She has taught clarinet and teaching methods at
the Conservatorium of Music from 1982 to 1996.
Ruth has performed and given masterclasses throughout Australia (from Adelaide to Cairns),
and also extensively in Europe, where, during seven years, she and her husband Antoni gave
concerts and taught in Germany, Sweden, Austria, the United Kingdom and France. She was
principal clarinettist with the Umea Regionmusiken in Sweden, and solo engagements include
concerti with Kurpfalzisches Kammerorchester (Mannheim), the Musiksaellskapets
Orchester (Umea, Sweden), Edinger Kammerorchester, Queensland Symphony Orchestra,
Queensland Youth Orchestra, Syndey Baroque Orchestra (Sydney University), Brisbane
Sinfonia, and the Queensland Concert Society Orchestra.
In 1995 she presented a weekend seminar 'Enjoy Teaching the Clarinet' at the Badische
Musikschule, Wienheim, Germany, and gave lectures and masterclasses in Denmark and
Finland. With Antoni she performs as Quartetto Bonetti.
Ruth Bonetti is author of the popular book Enjoy Playing the Clarinet (Oxford University
Press) and of Taking Centre-Stage (Albatross Books, 1997). Articles have been published in
numerous journals including Music Teacher (UK), Australian Music Teacher, Clarinet and
Saxophone (UK).
She is an examiner for the Australian Music Examinations Board and is in demand as an
Eisteddford Adjudicator and for lectures, masterclasses and workshops; presentations for
conferences include ASME and ANZASS, the Music Teachers Association and for Clarinet and
Saxophone Conferences (Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane). Ruth is an accredited member of
the National Speakers Association of Australia.
Since publication of Taking Centre-Stage, she has presented many lectures and
masterclasses to help people with performance nerves in a wide range of venues. |
